A partner in Koskie Minsky's pensions and employee benefits group, Michael Mazzuca advises jointly-trusteed pension and benefit plans, unions, plan administrators and non-unionized employee/retirement groups. Michael has been involved in several cases involving pension and benefit plans and has represented clients before the Ontario Financial Services Tribunal and the courts, including several class actions. His practice includes providing legal advice to pension and benefit plan administrators and boards of trustees concerning plan administration, fiduciary duties, and plan governance. Michael is a former Chair of the Ontario Bar Association's Pension and Benefits Section. Michael is also a lecturer at the University of Western Ontario, Faculty of Law, where he teaches a course on Pension and Benefits law and is an instructor with the International Foundation of Employees Benefits' Advanced Trustee Management Standards Program. Michael is also a member of the CAPSA Pension Plan Governance Task Force and has provided CAPSA with assistance in drafting its governance guidelines and self-assessment questionnaire. |
