Don Lapowich is an experienced litigator and an expert in professional negligence. His expertise lies in civil litigation and insurance law, with particular experience in errors and omissions and directors' liability. In the area of insurance law, Don has drafted insurance manuscript policies, as well as provided opinions to the insurance industry on policy wordings, coverage and liability. He is regularly called upon to defend directors and officers of corporations, dentists, real estate brokers and agents, lawyers, insurance brokers and agents, and members of other professional groups. Don's winning litigation practice has included the landmark case in which he successfully defended a solicitor against whom negligence was claimed in the Malvern radioactive soil claims. Don has lectured extensively for the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Canadian Bar Association, and is a regular lecturer in the Insurance Institute of Ontario, educational program. He is certified by the Law Society as a Specialist in Civil Litigation. A recipient of the Law Society Treasurer's Medal, Don is well-respected by his colleagues, insurance companies and professional clientele as a determined and fair advocate. Don is also a supporter of pro bono services for which he has been made an Honourary Member of Registered Graphic Designers (RGD Ontario), with the designation Hon RGD Ontario, as well as "Chai Tikvah," providing a special mentally-challenged group home and outsource services. |
