Widely respected as both litigator and counsel, Al Esterbauer is a partner in Koskie Minsky's civil litigation group. He has a broad range of litigation expertise in the areas of real estate, insurance and commercial law. Al's unique depth of experience has earned him the respect of a growing professional clientele and has contributed to an ever expanding appellate counsel practice. Al was called to the Ontario Bar in 1979 and joined the firm in 1985. Since then, Al has concentrated his litigation practice in the area of professional liability claims, particularly in the defence of claims against lawyers. He has also acted for a variety of other professionals, including real estate agents and brokers, appraisers and insurance brokers. Al is recognized by Lexpert as a leading Ontario practitioner in the professional liability practice area. Al regularly appears before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court and the Court of Appeal for Ontario. He is sought out by solicitors to act as counsel in matters involving real estate and commercial law, and pension litigation. Al is also committed to ADR initiatives and advocates its use in appropriate cases. With extensive trial and appellate experience, Al has argued numerous cases which have resulted in decisions that significantly impact on Ontario law, particularly in real estate matters. He has lectured frequently for the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, the Advocates Society and the Canadian Independent Adjusters' Association. |
