As at November 15, 2002 the Ontario Court of Appeal decision in the Monsanto
case has still not been rendered by the three Superior Court Justices who heard
the case on at Osgoode Hall, Toronto on April 29th and 30, 2002.
Something else is afoot with potentially major implications for our action. The
Ontario Provincial Government is proceeding with proposed amendments to the
Ontario Pension Benefits Act (PBA), which, if passed will, retroactively to
1988 (15 years), wipe out rights of thousands of members of defined benefit
pension plans in the province. An omnibus bill, Bill 198 “Keeping the Promise
for a Strong Economy (Budget Measures) 2002”, affecting 25 different Provincial
Acts, was introduced by Finance Minister Janet Ecker on Oct 30th. Click

A mass mailing to all Ontario domiciled AFTER members went out Nov. 11/02 (click

here to read). We want to send our message to ALL MPPs and need your
help to accomplish it. Click onto the Government website at
www.ontla.on.ca/Members/all_email to get the e-mail addresses for all
MPPs. We need YOU to write Ernie Eves and e-mail a copy to every MPP in the
Legislature. Do it NOW, the vote will be soon.

Meanwhile we have again met with Executives of Scotiabank who remains as
intrangisent as ever, waiting for a Court decision for “direction”.
