The Loblaws Hepatitis A Class Action was commenced in August 2002. It relates
to an employee of Loblaws who was infected with Hepatitis A, and who may have
caused the infection to spread. Thousands of customers of Loblaws obtained an
inoculation following the identification of the infected individual as an
employee of Loblaws, working in the produce section of one of its stores.
The Ontario Superior Court certified the action as a class proceeding under the Class
Proceedings Act, 1992 in Reasons for Decision dated May 16, 2005. Click here to read the Final Certification Order, dated May
16th, 2005.
