Andrew Hatnay

Andrew Hatnay is a partner in the Pension and Benefits Group of Koskie Minsky and advises unions, employees, retirees and pension plan administrators on legal issues affecting pension plans, benefit plans and other aspects of employee compensation. He has expertise with pension plan mergers, wind-ups and pension and benefit issues that arise in corporate restructurings and bankruptcy. Andrew is also a litigator and has represented clients in insolvency and bankruptcy proceedings before all levels of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada. He has acted as court-appointed employee representative counsel for the employees and retirees of Eaton's, Dylex, Saan Stores, Cotton Ginny, Irwin Toy, Domgroup and Hollinger Canadian Publishing Holdings.
Andrew has also acted for employees and retirees in the insolvency proceedings of Smurfit-Stone, Indalex, Hard Rock Paving, General Chemical, Vicwest and many other companies, and has assisted with the pension plan restructurings of Ivaco, Stelco, and Algoma Steel. He was successful counsel in the Supreme Court of Canada in the precedent-setting case of T.C.T. Logistics.
